Photograph Madagascar’s iconic lemurs in diverse natural habitats, including the Indri, Diademed Sifaka, Ring-tailed Lemurs, and Verreaux’s Sifaka. Photograph the magic of the Avenue of Baobabs during the golden hour, and explore the dense rainforests of Andasibe-Mantadia, home to a stunning diversity of chameleons, frogs, and endemic birds. In the Kirindy Reserve, we will photograph the elusive fossa, Madagascar’s top predator, along with nocturnal creatures like mouse lemurs and leaf-tailed geckos. Enjoy exclusive access to the Berenty Reserve, famous for its approachable Ring-tailed lemurs and dancing Verreaux’s sifakas, making it perfect for close-up wildlife photography. With private guided night walks, we will encounter rare nocturnal wildlife. This all-inclusive, private experience includes expert local guides, internal flights, and boutique accommodations for an unforgettable adventure.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Antananarivo

Arrival in Antananarivo (Tana). Land in Madagascar’s capital and overnight to rest and prepare for the adventure ahead.

Day 2-4 – Andasibe-Mantadia NATIONAL PARK

Transfer east to the lush rainforests of Andasibe. This is the land of the Indri, Madagascar’s largest lemur. We will spend two days photographing Indri and Diademed Sifaka in golden morning light; tiny frogs, chameleons, and orchids on macro walks; night walks for mouse lemurs and leaf-tailed geckos; bird endemics including blue vanga, asity and ground-rollers.

Day 5 – Morondava

Transfer back to Tana and fly to Morondava. We will photograph the Avenue of Baobabs in the evening golden light.

Day 6-8 – Kirindy Special Reserve

We head into Kirindy, home of the elusive fossa, Madagascar’s top predator. Enjoy dawn and dusk walks to maximise our chances of photographing Fossa, Giant jumping rats, Red-fronted brown lemurs and dry forest birdlife.

Day 9 – Morondava

We journey back to Morondava for a relaxed evening along the coast. There is the opportunity for more Baobab photography at the Avenue of Baobabs.

Day 10-12 – Berenty Private Reserve

We fly to the south for an exclusive stay at Berenty Private Reserve. This is lemur heaven – ring-tailed lemurs in morning light, Verreaux’s sifaka doing their famous dancing walk, endemic birds.

Day 13 – Fort Dauphin

We visit Cap du Sud, the most southerly part of Madagascar where now extinct elephant birds used to roam. We can collect fragments of their eggshells on the beach. Return to Fort Dauphin and overnight.

Day 14 – Antananarivo

We fly back to the capital and enjoy a final night in Madagascar. There is the opportunity to visit artisans and markets.

Day 15 – Flight Home

Return flight to the UK.
