Black Leopard Photo Tour

We journey to the heart of Laikipia, one of Kenya’s wilderness regions, for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to seek out the mysterious and incredibly rare black leopard. Against the backdrop of rolling hills and acacia-studded plains, this exclusive safari offers photographers the chance to track and photograph this legendary creature, whose sleek, shadowy form moves silently through the night. Alongside the black leopard, Laikipia teems with diverse wildlife, from elephants and wild dogs to Grevy’s zebra and reticulated giraffe.

Itinerary

Day ONE

We fly from the Mara to Laikipia, to arrive in time for lunch on the first day. We meet for tea and biscuits at 4 pm and start our afternoon safari at 4:30 pm, with our focus on the black leopard. The leopard is a female called Giza Mrembo and is resident around the camp. She is found on around five nights a week so we have a high success of finding her.

Day TWO

We start the morning safari at 6.15 am, following tea and coffee, again focused on the black leopard but also other spotted leopards that are resident in the area. We take brunch at the dam, while we wait for grey zebra, reticulated giraffe and elephants to come to drink.

The afternoon safari will start at 4:30 pm again until around 8pm and back in time for dinner.

Day THREE

After a morning safari, we fly back to Mara and arrive back in time for lunch. Alternatively, we can fly to Nairobi for our international flight, depending on our itinerary.
